About

Jen McIntyreI am a Ph.D graduate from the University of Washington’s School of Aquatic & Fishery Sciences. As an aquatic ecotoxicologist, I specialize in the impact of stormwater contaminants on olfactory-mediated behaviours in salmon. Since 2011, I have been a postdoctoral fellow at Washington State University studying the biological effectiveness of low-impact development systems on aquatic biota.

This blog, however, is not about that. This blog is about more general issues of sustainability. I am very concerned about our society’s disconnection from the land which sustains us. This blog attempts to address issues related to this central theme, however, quite often the posts simplify into more accessible stories of chickens and gardens. I hope that you enjoy my stories, and perhaps even learn a thing or two about our beautiful world and our role in it.
